THE BIG MATCH
DETAIL
After seeing the Pirates plunder all three points at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Gills make a welcome return to the Priestfield comfort zone for their midweek clash with Yeovil. The Glovers currently occupy 13th spot in League One and picked up a useful point in their 1-1 home draw with Charlton at the weekend.

Mark Stimson is expected to make changes in the starting line-up by recalling leading scorer Simeon Jackson to play alongside Manchester United loanee Febian Brandy in attack.
Jackson (pictured top right) was unable to train with the Gills squad last week after being on international duty with Canada and had to settle for just 25 minutes off the subs bench against Bristol Rovers.
Meanwhile our manager was disappointed with the team’s second-half performance on Saturday and in an interview with the Kent Messenger said, “We want the players to do what we preach to them in training every day, pass the ball and talk to each other.”
Stimson continued, “We didn’t pass the ball on Saturday and how they got their second goal was by players not communicating – simple as that. It’s really basic stuff but when you get out on the arena that’s when you have to have the belief to do it. For some reason second half they didn’t.”
With no reports of any fresh injuries to his squad, Stimson may decide to keep faith with the majority of last Saturday’s starting line-up apart from the pairing of Brandy (pictured right) with Simeon Jackson.
Glovers player manager boss Terry Skiverton (pictured left) was full of praise for his team’s battling performance on Saturday that secured 1-1 draw against the Addicks that was played in horrendous conditions.
Speaking to the BBC he said, “First of all I felt my team showed me two things that really pleased me today. I think that in the first half we showed all of our football, the way that we passed and our movement. I think that's twice now that we've had a Ryan Mason (pictured below left) and Jon Obika combination that has got a player sent off. There was nothing that he could do.”
He continued, “Ryan was clean through on goal and he's about to pull the trigger. Unfortunately those things happen in football. I think that in the first half we dominated play, I think we created some really good chances and I think we cut them open in the first half without kicking the ball long and using the ball that way. We kept the ball on the floor and I felt our passing and movement was excellent.”
In conclusion Skiverton added, “So in the first-half we were technically good, and in the second half we showed dogged determination, character, spirit and all the things I ask from my players. So I'm absolutely buzzing with that performance.”
