Stimson also praised leading striker Simeon Jackson for the two finishes that took his tally to 17 for the season and commented, “His first was a great strike and he got it from some great pressing from Adam Miller. He closed the full-back down got a block and played a great little ball round the corner. Jacko took a good first touch and an even better second touch to put it in the bottom corner.”

He added, “But if you watch the second goal I think it’s a better finish. Simeon (pictured left) actually run with the ball 10-15 yards at pace, got his head up and put it round the ‘keeper with the outside of his right foot.

Two good finishes from him and long may that continue to get him back up those goal scoring charts.”

Gills were sweating on the fitness of Danny Jackman before kick-off after he complained of feeling unwell on Friday evening, but looked to have recovered sufficiently when completing the full ninety minutes without showing any ill effects.

Meanwhile central defender Josh Gowling missed the game with a hamstring injury, although it’s too early to speculate on how long he’ll be out for.

Terriers boss Lee Clark (pictured right) thought his team played better after being reduced to ten men.

When speaking to the HTFC Official website said, “Gillingham were always going to have chances - that is understandable when you are a man down, especially when we threw Theo on and went 3-3-3 - but we showed great work rate and created chances.

They made good decisions, but in the first 25 minutes we didn't. I was really proud of the player's efforts, but you cannot open a game like we did.”

“We look like we still had a hangover from Tuesday night in the first 25 minutes and we deserved to be one goal down through a terrific goal. The second goal was poor, but we cannot sulk now - we have to face things head-on and Norwich City at home next weekend is a great game for us.”

He continued, “Young Nathan (right) showed a massive lack of discipline and got what he deserved, a straight red card.

I stress to the players before every game that we need controlled aggression and you have to be big enough to not get involved in anything unnecessary.

Certainly if Nathan's tackle had been by an opposition player on one of my lads, I would have wanted a red card.”
