NEW BOY LEON LEGGE IN GILLS SQUAD v SOUTHEND
As correctly predicted by GillsConnect on Boxing Day it is confirmed Gills will sign Brentford defender Leon Legge when the transfer window officially opens on loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
The 6ft 4inch centre back trained today with Gillingham squad and is available for Martin Allen to select for New Year’s Day match against promotion rivals Southend United at Roots Hall.
It has been reported that the 27-year-old is on loan from the Bees but is expected to make the move permanent at the end of January.

Leon Legge is known to former Brentford boss Martin Allen and he plays as a central defender. Legge has come on in leaps and bounds since joining Brentford in 2009.
Leon signed a contract extension in 2010 that keeps him at Griffin Park until 2014. However Brentford manager Uwe Rösler has not been using 27 year-old Legge as a regular and the centre-back has only played seven times in the league this season and three cup games.
LEON LEGGE - Central defender
Brentford boss Uwe Rösler commented on the deal, “I think the move is in the best interests of Leon and us in that we fulfill his wish for regular playing time. I want to thank him for the service he gave Brentford and to me. He is an honest lad and gave his all and was an important member of the squad.”
Leon signed for Brentford from Tonbridge Angels in 2009 and was named Supporters ‘Player of the Year’ at the end of his debut season. In just over three seasons with the Bees Leon made 115 appearances scoring ten goals.
