What the Gaffer Martin Allen says . . .

With two matches in the Yorkshire locality in quick succession the management and playing squad will be away from home for five days. Talking to the Gills Official website on Saturday evening following their fantastic 1-0 victory against Bradford City Martin Allen said, “Tomorrow we’ll have a leisure club morning with a swimming pool then we head to the other hotel and tomorrow night we’re all going to the pictures.”

He continued, “They’ll train Monday, sleep Monday afternoon, then I think we’ll play board games on Monday night. We train Tuesday morning then pick a team for the York game, that’s the plan of action.”

The Gills boss has added Development Squad youngsters Sam Muggleton and Jake Hessenthaler to his first team squad for the games in Yorkshire and explained this move by saying, ““We haven’t got that many players now.”

“Danny Kedwell’s hurt his hamstring so he wasn’t available so the young boys are going to have to step up, step in and be part of it. This is great for them and I hope, in the long term, they will be the future.”

This season he has scored five times and has been called up for the England C side, so far earning two caps.

Following two heavy losses York boss Gary Mills is expected to ring the changes in his starting line-up.

Alex Rodman (top) and David McDaid (bottom) made an impression when they came off the bench whilst Jon Challinor (bottom) may be recalled to bolster their lacklustre defence.

“It was a terrible start, we gave away two penalties and we’re committing suicide at the moment. We're giving away goals and we don't look like scoring and, at the end of the day, that's a recipe for disaster. We'll sort it out, that's our job, get ready for the next one and move on.”

Mills continued, “Football's about this as it's not all success. When things aren't going right you have to stand up and be counted. The players at this football club have got to stand up and start winning matches and start doing their jobs better. We know that, and we will.”

"There's no hiding it and there's no excuses. We're giving goals away and not scoring goals. Jamal (Fyfield) told me he hasn't pulled the man (for the pen), I've got the DVD so I'll see if he's telling the truth.”

“It's a very disappointing weekend again for us again. Two weekends running and conceding four goals in both games. That's not good enough, we have to be better."
