Peterborough have just won once in their last eight matches and have failed in their last five games that included two draws against relegation threatened Chesterfield and Oldham Athletic. The dismissed Glover said, he probably carries the can for Peterborough’s dramatic slump in form since their high point around Christmas.

Assistant boss Lee Glover joined the club last summer and was hand-picked by manager McCann after the pair met on a coaching course. A club statement issued today said, “We would like to thank Lee for his efforts on behalf of the football club and wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Peterborough Play-Off hopes are possibly over for the season, but at Christmas Posh were in fifth place but now, three months later although safe in 12th, they are eight points adrift of the Play-Offs.

A survey conducted by the Posh supporters blames the players 73%; Peterborough Chairman Darragh MacAnthony 14% and Peterborough manager Grant McCann 13%.

The Peterborough midfield trio of Chris Forrester, Leo Da Silva Lopes and Marcus Maddison were all linked with a move away to clubs in higher leagues, and presumably more money, in the January transfer window but Peterborough management managed to keep hold of all three. Since the start of the year all three have had a drop in their form and rumours are as to whether this is because they do not want to be at the club. The supporters are certainly not happy with what is going on.

Gills head coach Ady Pennock will hope that Gills will take full advantage of reported turmoil within Peterborough and their poor current form as Glover commented, “We’ve let in far too many goals since Christmas and no clean sheets creates pressure.”

However, this is something that Pennock and Gills know all about!
