Now, despite having only been at Rovers for just under a couple of months, the Newcastle loanee already has seven goals to his name, which have all come in his last seven matches. Armstrong commented on this hot streak of form, "I feel great and have seven goals in seven games, which is alright but the main thing is the team is winning.”

Last time out Blackburn beat Blackpool 3-0 with a goal from Bradley Dack and then a second from Armstrong created by the former Gills star. Armstrong described this strike, “When Bradley set it back, I thought I’d hit it in the top corner and thankfully it went in the back of the net.”

A third goal completed the victory over Blackpool as Armstrong added gloss to the scoreline by slotting home Elliott Bennett's low cross for his second of the game and seventh Blackburn goal that helped his side move eight points clear of third-placed Wigan at the top of the table.

Finally the Rovers hot-shot added, “We’re another step closer now to returning to the Championship, but the main thing is to keep getting wins on the board and we look forward to Gilingham."
