Young List said it was a special feeling to score his first professional goal for the Club, and a goal that secured Gills League One status for another year. Speaking to the media after the game List said, “I tried to run in behind and bring energy into the team. When they scored the goal heads dropped but we tried to get each other going and thankfully we nicked it late and it was nice on a personal note to get my first goal, and such an important one, but it’s been a team effort throughout the whole season.”

Talking through his goal (see picture above) Elliott added, “I had my back to goal when I received the ball; I managed to turn one defender, shift it past another and tried to get a shot away into the corner, low, and it went in.” Elliott intends keeping the goal video on his smart phone saying, “I’ll save that one. Not only was it my first goal but it was an important one and in the last minute. All of those things added up and it made it that extra bit special.”

List said the whole team had spoken about their recent slump in form and not scoring performances and they decided to go back to basics. “We had a meeting and just said let’s go back to basics. Let’s keep working hard, we’re good enough and we’ve proved it.”

Finally the team player Elliott, who will be hoping for a starting place in the last match of the season against Play-off seeking Plymouth Argyle said, “It’s a massive relief and we can just chill now and in the last game we want to give the fans some encouragement for next season.”
