1. Alan Julian - Goalkeeper

Previous Clubs – Brentford, Stevenage Borough

Alan began his career as a trainee with Brentford in 2000 although only managed a total of 19 first team appearances in his 5 years at Griffin Park.

Moved to Stevenage Borough in 2005 where he went on to make 155 first team appearances and also pick up the Player of the Year in 2006.

He is yet another player to have followed Mark Stimson to Gillingham although his opportunities between the sticks have been few and far between due to the excellent form of first choice keeper Simon Royce.

With Roycie signing a new deal for the 2009-10 season his chances in goal may again be fairly limited.

2. Barry Fuller - Defender

Previous Clubs - Charlton Athletic (trainee), Barnet, Stevenage Borough

Barry joined the youth set-up at the Valley as a schoolboy but failed to break into their first team and was loaned out to Barnet during the 2005-06 season, where he played 15 League games.

Teamed up with Mark Stimson at Stevenage Borough where he made 61 League appearances before joining his mentor at Priestfield in January 2008.

Took the skippers armband off Andrew Crofts during 2008-09 before leading Gills to promotion in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in May 2009.

3. John Nutter - Defender

Previous Clubs – Blackburn Rovers (trainee), Wycombe Wanderers, Aldershot, Ebbsfleet, Grays Athletic, Stevenage Borough

John failed to make the grade at Blackburn Rovers and moved to Wycombe Wanderers where he made just the single appearance in season 2000-01 before moving to Aldershot and then linking up with Mark Stimson at Grays and Stevenage.

The left-back joined Gills in January 2008 and went onto become an almost ever-present at the Club during the 2008-09 season.

4. Curtis Weston - Midfielder

Previous Clubs – Millwall, Swindon Town, Leeds United, Scunthorpe United

Curtis joined Millwall as an apprentice in 2003 and became the youngest player to appear in an FA Cup final when coming on as a substitute for the Lions in the 2004 Cup Final against Manchester United.

After finding his first team opportunities at the New Den limited joined up with his former manager Dennis Wise at Swindon Town and later followed him to Leeds United.

After impressing Mark Stimson during his one months loan spell from Leeds United he penned a 2 year deal with Gills and won the Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike against Wycombe Wanderers last December.

5. Simon King - Central Defender

Previous Clubs – Oxford United and Barnet

Mister Consistency is probably the best description for Simon after Gills signed him from Barnet in a £200,000 deal at the start of the 2007-8 season.

Began his football career as a trainee with Oxford United and only played a handful of games before moving to Underhill on a free where he spent four seasons including getting them promoted to the Football League.

Last season he scooped the Player of the Year Award and extended his contract with Gills until 2012.

6. Garry Richards - Central Defender

Previous Clubs – Colchester United, Ebbsfleet (loan), Brentford (loan), Southend United

Joined Colchester as a trainee in the summer of 2004 where he spent 3 seasons although only played 20 League games for the U’s.

Had loan spells with both Ebbsfleet and Brentford before signing for Southend in August 2007 but once again found himself on the fringes after playing only 10 League matches for the Shrimpers.

Signed for Gills in January 2008 and has now played 50 League games for us.

7. Kevin Maher - Midfielder

Previous Clubs – Oldham, Southend United, Tottenham Hotspur

Taken on by Spurs as a trainee in 1995 and although played for the Eire U-21 team failed to break into the first team squad at White Hart Lane.

Joined Southend in January 1998 where he went on to make 384 League appearances for the Shrimpers during his 11 seasons at Roots Hall.

Moved to Priestfield on loan at the end of the 2007-8 season where he made 7 appearances but couldn’t prevent Gills being relegated to League Two.

Was offered a contract to stay with Gills but chose stay in League One and signed for Oldham Athletic. Now back at Priestfield after signing a 2 year contract during the close season.

8. Mark Bentley - Midfielder

Previous Clubs – Enfield, Aldershot, Ebbsfleet, Dagenham & Redbridge, Southend Utd

Mark was a late entry into League football after plying his trade at non-league level with Enfield Town, Aldershot, Ebbsfleet and Dagenham & Redbridge, before linking up with Southend United where he went on to make over 100 first team appearances during his 3 year stint at Roots Hall.

Signed for Gills in May 2006 and has since gone on to make over 100 League appearances both in midfield and defence.

9. Mark McCammon - Forward

Previous Clubs – Cambridge Utd, Charlton Athletic, Swindon Town, Brentford, Millwall, Brighton, Bristol City, Doncaster Rovers

Mark joined the Gills on a 3 year deal last season after helping Doncaster Rovers win promotion to the Championship when they defeated Leeds United 1-0 in the Wembley League One Play-Off Final.

A strong combative attacker who although not a prolific scorer himself, holds the ball up well for others to apply the finishing touch.

He has been capped playing for Barbados and also played alongside Curtis Weston in the 2004 FA Cup Final against Manchester United.

Previous Clubs – Spurs apprentice, Leyton Orient (loan)

Began his career as a trainee with Tottenham Hotspur although the nippy winger made just the single appearance in the first team so went out on a 6 month loan spell with Leyton Orient to try and find his shooting boots.

In 25 outings with the O’s he only managed found the net once but his fortunes changed dramatically after Mark Stimson brought him to Priestfield, initially on loan in September 2008.

Went on to become an ever present in the Gills starting line-up last season, bagging 6 goals and setting up many more which earned him a 2 year contract during the summer.

12. Chris Palmer - Midfield

Previous Clubs – Derby County apprentice, Hereford Utd, Notts Couty, Wycombe Wanderers, Darlington, Walsall

Failed to break into the first team at Pride Park under manager George Burley, before being loaned out to Hereford United for a month.

Joined Notts County on a 2 year deal in the summer of 2004 before moving to Wycombe Wanderers in 2006.

Had a short spell on loan at Darlington before joining Walsall on a free at the beginning of last season. Was expected to re-sign for the Saddlers this season but Gills nipped in and bagged the versatile player from under their noses and looks at home on either flank.

In the friendly at Folkestone he played a blinder on the left wing, setting up a goal for Mark McCammon and scoring another himself.
